Wooki

Electrolux Design Lab 2012 was a global annual design competition, now called Electrolux Ideas Lab, which invites to designer to come up with new ideas with a specific theme and brief in mind.

For 2012 the brief was simple, to stimulate all senses and come up with an idea that will provide a fuller sensory experience. It might be through state of the art technology or it might be through a clever blend of textures and surfaces.

My submission is called Wookie, a mini vegetable growing system, it´s a sustainable living organism that coexist with you and needs care, water and food. The idea is simple, you take genetically treated seeds and plant them into Wooki in order to get mini vegetables snacks. The more you interact with Wooki, giving it care and taking the produce, the faster and better they grow. As a result Wooki produces a memorable color-smell environment. Each color means that Wooki is in a different mood, depending how much you have interacted with him.

The idea was to create a bond with a natural element, go back to the basics of eating vegetables as snacks, see life as a cooperation between humans and nature and obviously help out with your healthy diet.
